Pic1Around 1990, Tim noticed an increase in building contractors’ interest in painted woodwork. In addition to enhancing the visual appearance of a home, painted woodwork offered a separate and substantial benefit to painting contractors – supplementary work that can be done during the rainy periods. It is an opportunity that still represents an important part of Seattle Paint & Drywall, Inc.’s business.

Tim, Diana and Jeremy aren’t bashful about the company’s success with painted woodwork. “We’ve pretty much perfected the quality of painted woodwork packages,” Tim admits. “Our customers tell us that our method results in richer looking wood and a higher quality appearance.”

Tim explains that, “Seattle Paint & Drywall, Inc.’s quality is never lacking regardless of the price of the project. We want to completely satisfy even our smallest customer.”

The company still performs neighborhood repaints as well as detached and attached housing projects. A percentage of Seattle Paint & Drywall, Inc.’s business is high-end residences. The company painted a $5 million dollar Mercer Island home which took two and one half years to complete. The job called for one coat of penetration oil, one coat of vinyl sealer as a protective coating, two coats of lacquer, one glazing coat and then, two more coats of lacquer. “Every piece of woodwork in the home looked like a piece of furniture,” Jeremy says. “It seemed like miles and miles of cabinets and bookshelves, virtually all finished cherry wood.”

We have been delivering first-class finishes since 1985. Living up to that is a priority for our company,” Jeremy states. “New customers can be quite surprised. They’re not used to the painting contractor showing up on time, staying on schedule and providing accurate cost and time estimates.

Also, we strive to have office personnel available to answer our phone when customers call our business. This is a personal touch we know that people really appreciate these days.”

“We have customers who have been loyal to us for quite a number of years,” Tim says. “They’ve never had reason to use another painting contractor. For example, we’ve enjoyed working with one of our customers for 20 years and have watched each others’ children grow up. It really makes this business more gratifying when you have customers who appreciate your work.”

With a new generation of Fike’s in the painting business, Puget Sound building contractors and homeowners may have another generation to discover Seattle Paint & Drywall, Inc. if they haven’t already.”
